Remove Skin Tags Naturally [Infographic]

Remove Skin Tags Naturally [Infographic] from iHerb.com
Most physicians generally advise to leave skin tags untreated if they do not pose or indicate a medical problem and if they are not bothersome.

However, since skin tags are often found on the face, neck, underarms, groin region and under the breasts, they can be unsightly and embarrassing.

Skin tags can be removed at the doctor's office by severing (cutting them off) with a scalpel or scissors or by electrolysis (cauterization).

In addition, there are various home remedies for removing skin tags including tying them off with dental floss, covering them with duct tape, applying specialty creams, nail polish or alcohol or freezing them off as one would freeze off a wart at home.

Some of these foregoing home treatments may be painful, cause scarring, result in infections or other complications.

For a safer and painless home remedy of skin tags, there are three options that utilize natural ingredients and methods as illustrated and explained in this infographic.  These three treatments involve the use of one of these:

✿ Tea Tree Oil
✿ Apple Cider Vinegar
✿ Castor Oil

Infographic: Skin Care 101

Beautiful skin depends, in part, on a proper skincare program that includes cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing and protecting the skin from the sun and other elements.  Healthy, glowing skin also depends on diet, exercise and sleep, which are just as (if not more) important as adhering to a daily topical skincare regimen.

This infographic, entitled "Skin Care 101" covers the basics of taking care of your skin properly.

The best cleansers, exfoliators, moisturizers and sunscreen products come from Mother Nature.  Common foods and household items like almond, olive and coconut oils, honey, brown and white sugar, sea salt, lemons, avocados, cucumbers, apple cider vinegar, cornstarch, baking soda and many other fruits, vegetables and herbs can be used in simple combinations to cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize and protect the skin.  The organic versions of these natural ingredients do not contain pesticides and the toxic chemicals that are generally found in great abundance in commercial beauty products.

Proper hydration (i.e., drinking plenty of water) and a diet rich in dark leafy green vegetables, nuts, citrus and other fruits is essential to beautiful, youthful skin.

Exercise (including yoga), relaxation techniques (including meditation) and adequate sleep and rest are another important component of clear, bright and smooth skin.

Potent Cocktails of Chemicals

Most commercial cosmetic and skincare products on the market today are potent cocktails of industrial chemicals.

Toxic Chemicals and Health

As studies continue to link these chemicals to various ailments and chronic health conditions, we are beginning to understand just how harmful these substances may be to our health.

It is becoming a cause of concern when one considers that, in the daily use of these toxic substances, they are being absorbed into our bodies through our skin, our largest organ.

Reducing and Limiting Our Exposure

The good news is that we can greatly reduce and limit or even completely eliminate our exposure to these industrial chemicals by avoiding commercial skincare, and beauty products and making some or all of our own skin care products at home.

Many of the DIY skincare recipes are easy and take only a few minutes using completely natural ingredients, some of which are illustrated in this infographic entitled "Natural Skin Care Ingredients".  Most of these ingredients may already be in your pantry or refrigerator or are readily available at your local markets:

 Aloe Vera

Making Your Spray Tan Last Longer

Tanning beds can give you that natural looking tan year round.   They are convenient and not prohibitively expensive - most tanning spas offer discounts with a prepaid or a monthly subscription.  Additional deals can be regularly found online at "daily deal" websites, such as Groupon.

Silky Soft and Healthy Skin for Pennies a Day

Having silky soft and healthy skin is as simple (and cheap) as reaching into your kitchen cupboard.  Soda or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) has many health and beauty qualities that have been shown to be beneficial in skincare.  It removes oils and acids present on the skin, neutralizes odors, softens skin and aids in healing.

The simplest way to reap the skincare benefits of baking soda is to add it to the bath or to a homemade facial or body scrub or cleanser.

It is important to use baking sode with care.  Improper use, including overuse, has been shown to cause cracking and drying of the skin.

This is why I avoid using baking soda as the only ingredient.  Instead, I always combine it with other natural ingredients that have moisturizing properties.  These include various oils (olive, sesame, coconut and almond), honey and aloe vera.  This is particularly essential in scrubs and cleansers that will be applied directly to the skin.

No time for homemade skincare products?  You can still enjoy the benefits of baking soda by adding 1/3 to 1/2 cup to your bath along with a commerical product.
