Dark Eye Circles and Bags

Dark circles and bags under and around the eyes are not very attractive.  They make us look tired, sick, and older.  Perhaps worst of all, they make us self-conscious and undermine our sense of confidence.

Causes

Discoloration and puffiness around the eyes can be caused by a number of things, including genetics, irregular sleep patterns especially sleep deprivation, stress, fatigue, illness, allergies, improper diet, skin irritants, sun exposure and aging.

Identifying the Cause

Of course the best way to correct dark eye circles and bags is to identify and address the cause or causes, many of which are related to or reflective of lifestyle.

✏️ Meditation, mindfulness techniques and/or yoga can help with stress management

✏️ Sleep hygiene and hacks as well as certain herbs can help improve sleep

✏️ A diet that includes a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well certain dietary supplements, can help correct vitamin and mineral deficiencies

✏️ Drinking plenty of pure, clean water can help with dehydration

You can also look at a face mapping diagram for any clues to possible health issues.  For example, a shade of dark blue underneath the eyes can be a sign of adrenal fatigue.

Treatment

There are many products on the market designed to temporarily conceal or reduce the appearance of dark circles or reduce puffiness. There are also many natural, at-home remedies that work temporarily but that also can also have a more long-term curative effect.

Temporary Fixes for Sparse Brows

If you have sparse or no eyebrows because of plucking, waxing, shaving or an illness like adrenal fatigue, you have a couple of options.

You can use brow pencils, gel liners, cake powders and tints. Some women use waterproof lash lengthening and thickening mascara or even brush-on eyelash fibers to give their brows some color and volume.

The trouble with all of these types of products is that they are temporary and need to be applied every day.  Application takes time and a certain amount of skill so that brows look natural.  Re-application might be necessary after certain activities, like swimming or other exercise. Some products flake off or smear.

Additionally, many of these products can be pricey if they are good quality.

A More Permanent Solution

To avoid the hassle and expense of making eyebrows appear thicker, the best solution is a more permanent one:  grow, regrow, lengthen and thicken your brow hairs (or eyelashes for that matter).

This does require some dedication and patience but its well worth the effort.

Serums and Castor Oil

There are many brow and lash growth serums on the market yet the product that gets the most and best ratings is cold-pressed, organic castor oil.  You need look no further at Amazon to verify this.

Castor oil is rich in essential fatty acids, proteins and vitamin E and has been found to have several health and beauty benefits including triggering hair growth and promoting thicker hair.
