One such new product is the "24 Hour Face Lift" by University Medical. This serum is essentially a wrinkle and fine line filler that claims to work from within the skin's surface and promises continuous 24-hour dermal filling.
The active ingredient in the 24 Hour Face Lift serum is Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid is a substance that is naturally present in every tissue of the body and works by acting as a cushion and lubricant in joints and tissues. Hyaluronic Acid is sometimes applied topically to the skin, as a moisturizer and to heal wounds, burns, skin lesions and ulcers. Taken orally or injected, it has also been used to treat various joint disorders.
In cosmetic surgery, Hyaluronic Acid is marketed under the trade name of "Restylane" and has been used for lip augmentation, to fill wrinkles and to add volume to and/or contour the cheeks, chin, forehead and nose. Hence, the 24 Hour Face Lift serum, with Hyaluronic Acid being the active ingredient, compares itself to Restylane.
What is unique about the 24 Hour Face Lift serum is that it claims to be the first time-released topical dermal filler that acts on the skin continuously, if applied twice daily. While fine lines are purported to look invisible almost immediately, continued use is expected to reduce the appearance of surface and deeper wrinkles.
My Personal Experience:
In my own experience with this product, I did see an almost immediate noticeable difference in the appearance of fine lines around my eyes. And, unlike some other "instant" face lift products, which wear off relatively soon after application, the 24 Hour Face lift serum does seem to sustain the diminished appearance of fine lines. I do not think it is intended as a moisturizer, but rather as a treatment. I find it soaks into the skin rapidly and then I must apply a day or night creme.
The one (and only) thing that is annoying to me about this product (and that does not have anything to do with the serum itself or its effectiveness) is that it comes in a relatively large, heavy and opaque bottle and is dispensed with a pump. Although the bottle is very beautiful and luxurious in appearance, the pump takes a little effort to operate and the general design of the bottle does not permit me to see how much I have left and, for me, this is the one and only negative.
The 24 Hour Face Lift serum sells for about $32 to $40 per 30 mL (1 fluid ounce) at drugstores and certain online retailers. As of the time this was written, I found the best deal at Amazon.com
